About

Code for Venezuela invites you to a fireside chat with Francisco Marquez, one of Venezuela’s top diplomats in DC; and Juan Andrés Mejía, congressman and Head of the "Plan País" National Assembly commission and MIT alumni on the ground.

Venezuela has been in the news in the past year due to the highest inflation in the world, more than 3 million refugees, and a political implosion that has lead to a serious humanitarian crisis.

Find out the facts directly from Venezuelans.

Key questions:

Censorship: how are Venezuelans communicating despite not having a free press?

Why is the international community actively pushing for regime change?
What is happening on the ground?

Is this a US-backed coup d'etat?

Who is Juan Guaidó?

Special guests:
- Juan Andrés Mejía, venezuelan congressman. From Venezuela via Videoconference.

- Francisco Marquez, Executive Director of Visión Democrática. From DC via Videoconference.

- Code for Venezuela (codeforvenezuela.org) Organizing Committee in San Francisco.
